Day six of the 2017 FINA World Championships featured the fastest event on schedule and the second longest women’s event.

Bruno Fratus of Brazil and Caeleb Dressel of the USA, both sprint greats in their own right, claimed the top two seeds in the men’s 50 free, while Katie Ledecky and Leah Smith provided a 1-2 double for Team USA in the women’s 800 free.

Unsurprisingly, Sarah Sjostrom took the top seed in the women’s 50 fly prelims, followed closely by American Kelsi Worrell.

Dressel returned less than an hour later to stun the crowd with a 50.08 swim in the men’s 100 fly, the top seed and the third fastest time ever posted.
