Day seven prelims of the 2017 FINA World Championships featured some of the shortest and longest events on the schedule as 50s and 1500s were contested.

One night after missing gold in the 100 free, Sarah Sjostrom was back and gunning for one more individual title: 50 free. She claimed the top seed over Olympic gold medalists Pernille Blume and other sprinting greats.

The men’s 50 back featured a swift Junya Koga, plus backstroke greats Camile Lacourt, Matt Grevers, and Xu Jiayu, while the breaststroke rivalry between Lilly King and Yulia Efimova entered one last showdown event. King claimed the top seed in the 50 breast, followed by Efimova.

The Dutch delivered the fastest qualifying time in prelims of the mixed 400 free relay, followed closely by Team USA.
