Day four prelims of the 2017 FINA World Championships featured a low-key schedule that played host to some high-intensity racing.

Team USA’s mixed medley relay, comprised of three Olympians and an NCAA champion, delivered a stunning new world record of 3:40.28 in the mixed 400 medley relay. They enter tonight’s finals as the top seed by close to four seconds.

Chian’s Qin Haiyang posted a new world junior record of 1:59.01 en route to qualifying eighth for semi-finals of the men’s 200 IM, while Kosuke Hagino of Japan took the top seed with a 1:56.46.

Katinka Hosszu charmed a home crowd with a top seed in the women’s 200 fly, while Australia’s Cam McEvoy posted the only sub-48 second 100 free at a 47.97.
