The eighth and final day of competition in the Budapest Duna Arena has arrived and prelims were a quick morning. Swimmers competed in the men’s and women’s 400 IM, as well as the men’s and women’s 400 medley relays.

Katinka Hosszu turned in the top time of the women’s 400 IM, but not without some challengers. Also in the mix for finals are the USA’s Elizabeth Beisel and Leah Smith, Spain’s Mireia Belmonte, and Japan’s Sakiko Shimizu.

On the men’s side, it was Chase Kalisz of the USA who powered to the top seed. He was the only swimmer to post a sub-4:10 time.

The USA delivered top finishes, claiming the number one seed times for both the men’s and women’s 400 medley relay. Japan and Russia round out the top three qualifiers on the men’s side, while the women’s features China and Canada close behind the USA.
