INCHEON, Korea, January 30. SOUTH Korea's Tae Hwan Park, the teenager who has quickly become one of the top freestylers in the world, indicated Monday that he plans on winning a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Park won the 200, 400 and 1,500 freestyles at the Asian Games in December. He is currently training for the World Championships in Melbourne in March.
"My ultimate goal is to become the first South Korean to win a gold medal in swimming in the Olympics," Park said. "Though the World Championships are important to me, I want to look further."
Park should challenge for podium positions at the World Champs, where he's expected to clash with the likes of Michael Phelps, Grant Hackett and Klete Keller, among others.
