Pair of Provincial Records Fall During Second Night of Bell Grand Prix
MONTREAL, Quebec, June 29. DURING the second night of long course meter competition at the Bell Grand Prix held in Montreal, Quebec from June 28-July 1, a pair of provincial records fell.
Adam Mania recorded a 55.70 in the men's 100 backstroke to surpass the 56.43 set by Alexandre Pichette in 1999. Meanwhile, Scott Dickens set the men's 50 breaststroke provincial standard with a time of 28.69. That performance nipped the 28.91 set by Matthew Huang in 2005 and came up just shy of the Canadian record of 28.22 held by Morgan Knabe.
Other men's winners included Andrew Hurd in the 200 free (1:51.03), Tobias Oriwol in the 200 IM (2:04.56) and Thomas Kindler in the 50 fly (24.25).
On the women's side of the equation, Chanelle Charron-Watson won the 200 free (2:01.50), Caitlin Meredith won the 100 back (1:05.00), Genevieve Saumur took home the 200 IM (2:17.73) and the 50 fly (27.90) and Jillian Tyler touched first in 32.69.
