British Olympian Fran Halsall announced her retirement from swimming earlier today via Twitter.

In her post, Halsall thanked all those who had “committed time, money, wisdom and knowledge” to her throughout her career. The three-time Olympian admitted while she will miss the sport, she is looking forward to the next chapter of life and experiencing the “mythical bank holiday.”

Halsall, a three-time Olympian for Great Britain, enjoyed a decade-long career in the sport of swimming. She first made her appearance on the international scene at the 2006 Commonwealth Games where she earned two relay silver medals.

In 2010, at the European Championships in Budapest, Halsall collected a total of five medals (two gold, two silver, and one bronze), making her the most successful British swimmer at a single championship meet.

Halsall leaves the sport with a total of six LCM records and nine SCM records.
