NCAA championship season is fast approaching, with conference championship seasons less than three weeks away and the NCAA championships following soon after. So to kick off Swimming World’s extensive coverage of college championship season, Rowdy Gaines joined this week’s episode of Off Deck.

Gaines, a 1984 Olympic gold medalist and the top television analyst for swimming in the United States, joined host David Rieder to discuss a wide variety of topics, including what he is most looking forward to about both the women’s and men’s NCAA championships. The women’s meet runs March 15-18 in Indianapolis, and the men’s meet will begin one week later at the same pool.

Gaines also explained the differences in the NCAA championships in a post-Olympic year compared to last year. He took a few minutes to look back on this summer’s Olympics and shared a few of his favorite moments from Rio. Gaines also reflected on the legacy of retiring USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus.
