Novo Sprint Cup Airs in the East Today on Fox Sports

PHOENIX, Dec. 9. THE Novo Nordisk Sprint Cup, one of the most exciting and innovative swim meets ever, will be broadcast on three of its Eastern outlets today,
Sunday, Dec. 9.

For the date and time of the broadcast in your area, see the listing below.

The Novo Nordisk Sprint Cup was the brainchild of triple Olympic gold medalist, Gary Hall, Jr., and took place in East Meadow, New York, on October 20. It brought together 54 of the world’s greatest sprinters who competed on three teams – Stars and Stripes, European Union and World – for the coveted, silver Novo Nordisk Sprint Cup.

The events, held in a 25-meter pool, were limited to sprints: 25 and 50 meter free; 50m back, breast and fly; 100m individual medley; and 4 x 50m freestyle and medley relays. Only three swimmers qualified for finals in each event.

Sponsored by Novo Nordisk, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, the meet was held to promote increased awareness of diabetes and its treatment. Gary Hall, Jr., suffers from the disease, yet still is able to swim at the highest level of international competition.

A complete story on the Novo Nordisk Sprint Cup appears in the December issue of Swimming World.
