Northern Iowa Swim And Dive Sneaks By South Dakota State, 158-142

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, October 18. The University of Northern Iowa women’s swimming and diving team won nine of 16 events this afternoon to edge South Dakota State, 158-142. Molly Lembezeder, Taylor Ostrowski, Sarah Kemp and Rachel Siebenaller all doubled for Northern Iowa, while Emily Campbell tripled for South Dakota State.

South Dakota State completed a weekend road trip in Iowa with a 158-142 loss to Northern Iowa.

In all, the Jacks won seven events on the day.

SDSU opened the day with a win in the 200 medley relay as Samantha Prasher, Kayce Smith, Kristin Erf and Abby Zenner touched in 1:50.24. Prasher also won the 100 back in 1:00.38.

Kendra Hinton and Gretchen Frick went one-two in the 1000 free as they touched in 10:56.16 and 11:05.05, respectively.

Emily Campbell had a stellar day as the Aberdeen native won both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes as she recorded times of 1:07.87 and 2:25.13, along with the 200 IM with a mark of 2:13.05. Erf also placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.96.

Cassie Hendricks recorded a first-place time of 2:10.83 in the 200 backstroke.

In the 400 free relay, SDSU took second as Katya Vakshteyn, Goosen, Julia Bodnaruk and Nicole Grimit with a time of 3:39.92.

The Jacks will return to the pool Nov. 1 as they welcome Nebraska to the HPER Center Pool.
