North Carolina Men Sign Five Men

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina, November 13. THE University of North Carolina men's swimming program announced Monday the signing of five prospective student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. These students will enroll at North Carolina in August 2007 and become a part of the Tar Heels' 2007-08 swimming team. Head coach Frank Comfort announced the signing of Tommy Wyher, Joshua Hafkin, Joe Kinderwater, Robert Grimmett-Norris and Andrew Brake.

Andrew Brake hails from Springfield, Va. He swims for the Curl-Burke Swim Club where he is coached by Pete Morgan. His best times are 1:52.50 in the 200-yard IM, 3:59.10 in the 400-yard IM, 51.40 in the 100-yard fly, 1:50.80 in the 200-yard fly and 51.98 in the 100-yard back. Brake attends Lake Braddock High School.

Robert Grimmett-Norris is a native of Herndon, Va. and he attends Georgetown Preparatory School. Grimmett-Norris also swims for Curl-Burke Swim Club where his coach is John Flanagan. The career bests for Grimmett-Norris are 51.02 in the 100-yard fly, 1:50.59 in the 200-yard fly, 1:55.02 in the 200-yard IM, 4:02.84 in the 400-yard IM, 1:42.25 in the 200-yard free and 4:34.28 in the 500-yard free.

Joshua Hafkin attends Georgetown Preparatory School. He is a native of Rockville, Md. Hafkin competes for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club under the guidance of coach Jim Williams. Career bests are 20.88 in the 50-yard free, 46.22 in the 100-yard free, 1:43.30 in the 200-yard free, 48.75 in the 100-yard back, 1:47.60 in the 200-yard back and 51.00 in the 100-yard fly.

Joe Kinderwater swims for coach Peter Clark at the Trident Swim Club. He hails from Lancaster, Pa. and attends Hempfield High School. Personal bests are 4:31.83 in the 500-yard free, 9:13.55 in the 1000-yard free and 15:26.93 in the 1650-yard free.

Tommy Wyher is a native of New Port Richey, Fla., and attends Tampa Jesuit High School. Personal bests are 48.13 in the 100-yard fly, 48.86 in the 100-yard back and 20.87 in the 50-yard free. Wyher swims for coach Rich Rogers at Tampa Bay Aquatics.
