Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or Takes Home Second Title at Indianapolis Sectionals

INDIANAPOLIS – Aqua Swim Club’s Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or won his second event of the meet, while SwimMAC Carolina extended its lead in the combined team standings on night two of the long course Indianapolis Sectionals meet at the IUPUI Natatorium.

North Baltimore’s Easop Lee took home the first title of the night in the women’s 200 free, clocking a 2:00.76 to finish just off Samantha Cheverton’s 2013 meet record of 2:00.25. SwimMAC Carolina’s Nora McCullagh got to the wall just in front of Waves Bloomington’s Melissa Pish for second, 2:02.01 to 2:02.13.

In the men’s 200 free, North Baltimore’s William Buese ran down Firestone Akron’s Michael Reilman on the final 100 to secure the win, 1:52.35 to 1:52.51. North Baltimore’s Kaan Ozcan, the second seed after prelims, finished third in finals with a 1:53.11.

Four swimmers finished with 1:01s in the women’s 100 fly final, led by Lake Country’s Megan Doty at 1:01.10. Doty dropped almost a second and a half and moved up from fifth to first. Livonia Community’s Miranda Tucker maintained her second place seeding with a 1:01.58, while SwimMAC Carolina’s Kathleen Baker placed third in 1:01.86.

Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or of Aqua Swim Club took home the men’s 100 fly title in a close race with Kingfish Aquatic Club’s Camden Murphy. Shapira Bar-Or stopped the clock at 54.34 for the win, with Murphy coming in at 54.46. Thaddeus Ricotta also broke 55, taking third in 54.96. Shapira Bar-Or also won the 50 free last night in 23.32.

Fishers Area’s Lauren Edelman cruised to a win in the women’s 400 IM final with a 4:48.96, well ahead of SwimMAC Carolina’s Nora McCullagh (4:51.47). Easop Lee of North Baltimore made her way onto the podium again with a 4:53.12 for third.

Northridge Area’s Spencer Lehman topped the men’s IM in 4:29.06, comfortably ahead of Indiana University’s Brandon Colonis (4:31.79). Colonis just out-touched North Baltimore’s William Buese for second, as Buese touched at 4:31.82.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Rebecca Postoll, Alyssa Marsh, Kathleen Baker and Erika Brown won the women’s 400 free relay in 3:49.65, while North Baltimore’s Mary Pelton, Madison Runge, Megan Fields and Easop Lee touched second at 3:51.98. Waves Bloomington’s Grace Ariola, Hannah Boyd, Melissa Pish and Mckenzee Gordon placed third in 3:52.19.

North Baltimore’s Daniel Golczewski, Atalay Onol, Kaan Ozcan and William Buese swam away with the win in the men’s 400 free relay with a 3:29.73. SwimMAC Carolina touched right behind as Evan Heldman, Connor Long, Mitchell Harwood and Graham Weaver posted a 3:30.29. North Baltimore’s B squad of Jason Ewart, Samet Alkan, Noah Stewart and Coleman Stewart rounded out the top three in 3:34.33.

SwimMAC Carolina leads the combined team standings through day two with 1,079 points. North Baltimore is second with 848 points, followed by Indiana University in third with 308 points.
