Nicolo’ Martinenghi continued to throw down swift times at the 2017 European Junior Championships by lowering his own 100 breast World Junior Record.

Martinenghi had set the previous mark at a 59.31 while swimming at the 2017 Setti Colli International meet on June 23, 2017.

The 16-year-old charged to a final time of 59.23 to lower his World Junior mark and set a new Italian Record in the process. Additionally, his time of 59.23 doubles as a new European Junior and Championship meet record.

This marks the third time he has lowered the World Junior record this year.

Comparable splits:

  • Martinenghi (July 2017) – 27.60, 31.63 = 59.23
  • Martinenghi (June 2017): 27.54, 31.77 = 59.31
  • Martinenghi (April 2017): 27.65, 31.81 = 59.46
