NCAA Women’s Water Polo: USC Wins Southern California Regional

SAN DIEGO, CA – The No. 1 USC women’s water polo team won the Southern California Regional and will advance to the National Championships, hosted by UC Davis, on May 7-9. The Women of Troy (26-2) defeated San Diego State, 7-4, and UCLA, 11-1, to win their group.

Aniko Pelle and Nina Wengst each scored two goals as USC beat the Aztecs. USC took a 3-0 lead after one period.

USC followed a similar route, taking a 3-0 lead after one quarter against the Bruins. The Women of Troy had an 8-0 lead after three quarters. Pelle scored three goals and Wengst, Sandra Milicev and Lisa Saenz each scored two goals.

In addition to USC, UCLA, San Diego State and UC Santa Barbara advanced to the nationals.
