NBC Puts 2000 Games On Cable

New York, NY – NBC will branch out 273 hours of the 2000 Summer Olympics coverage to its cable outlets CNBC and MSNBC, the first time Summer Games coverage will be available on cable television. More than 30 Olympic finals, including boxing, soccer, tennis, baseball and water polo, will be broadcast on cable. Beginning September 17, at least one gold medal event each day will be seen on cable. All programming on CNBC and MSNBC will be on tape delay because of the 15-hour time difference between Sydney and the U.S. East Coast. CNBC will telecast events from 5pm – 9pm EDT on weeknights and from 4pm – 9pm on weekends. MSNBC will have Olympic events from 10am – 5pm on weekdays. Its weekend hours have not been set.
