Namibian National Record Holder Xander Skinner Signs with McKendree University

Namibian National Record holder Xander Skinner has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at McKendree University beginning in the fall.

Skinner’s coach Thad Schultz said, “He trains hard and it’s no surprise he’s getting picked up at the collegiate level. He still has a great career ahead of him.”

GENEVA, OHIO – August 08, 2017 –SPIRE Institute announced Xander Skinner will go on to compete at McKendree University after training with the SPIRE Swimming Academy. Skinner won many accolades as a swimmer at SPIRE including the 2017 Long Course World Championship.

“Xander is an extremely talented athlete,” said Thad Schultz, Head Swimming Coach. “He trains hard and it’s no surprise he’s getting picked up at the collegiate level. He still has a great career ahead of him.”

Below includes a list of Skinner’s accomplishments while at the SPIRE Swimming Academy:

2015 Long Course World Champion
2016 Short Course World Champion
2017 Long Course World Champion
Placed 4th in the 50 Freestyle at African Senior Championships
Placed 5th in the 100 Freestyle at African Senior Championships
Currently holds the Namibia National Records in 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free

The SPIRE Swimming Academy Program is dedicated to helping each swimmer reach his or her dreams. SPIRE is a United States Olympic and Paralympic Training site and FINA Training Center. To date, 100% of all graduating SPIRE Academy athletes have had the opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
