NAIA Swimming Landscape Shaping Up For Fast Midseason

COLUMBIA – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) swimming landscape is certainly shaping up to be fast during the midseason.

Impact swimmers in the NAIA:

Hunter Sa-Nguansap, Concordia: He is currently ranked 2nd at a 57.23 in the 100 breast, 2nd in the 200 breast with a 2:04.12, 1st in the 100 fly with a 51.47, 3rd in the 200 fly with a 1:53.72, 2nd in the 200 IM with a 1:54.98 and 1st in the 400 IM with a 4:02.28. Sa-Nguansap from Chino Hills, California is providing his team with best times, points and a reputation to be proud of.

Rosalee Santana Ana, Azusa Pacific: Currently ranked 1st with a 5:01.04 in the 500 free, 1st in the 1000 free with a 10:18.41 and 1st in the 1650 with a 17:35.26, Santana Ana is a powerful distance swimmer from Cerritos, California.

Coming out of SCAD, Joel Ax is making an appearance in a multitude of freestyle events and is expected to be climbing the ranks. Rosalee Santa Ane, as described above, from Azusa Pacific is dominating on the women’s side as we continue to get deeper into our swim season.

Backstroke:

Georgi Krastey from Saint Andrews is currently the first place ranking holder in both backstroke event. He is proving to be a strong swimmer that is making a positive reputation for his school. Talia Sola from Brenau and Ines Remersaro from SCAD are formidable foes as they face off against each other, trading off first and second place in 100 backstroke and chasing each other in the 200.

Breaststroke:

Hailing from Oklahoma Baptist, Fernando Morillas has two solid #1 rankings in the breaststroke events and is expected to hold them as he pushes farther into the season. Likewise, the Tixer sisters are a fearsome duo that are sure to impress this year. Meer tenths of second off each other the freshman and senior sisters are a force to be reckoned with.

Butterfly:

Absolutely decimating the competition in almost all the following events, Concordia provides us with Hunter Sa-Nguansap, a freshman that is a name to follow. Laura Stephenson holds a firm #2 ranking in the 100 butterfly and is expected to make an appearance in the top five of the 200 butterfly. She is the first women to be on the podium for Lindsey Wilson and is hopeful to do so again.

Coming Up Next In NAIA:

The weekend of December 5-7, NAIA swimming is going to see some fast swims, great competition and incredible times. Olivet Nazarene will make a two day appearance at the Eastern Michigan Invite. They will bring their all as they swim out of the NAIA division and look forward to Nationals in March. Partaking in the Arkansas Little Rock Christmas Invite, Wayland Baptist is using this meet to climb the ranks and try to be in the top #3 for men. There is a lot more happening this weekend in NAIA swimming as teams gear up and fix their eyes on NAIA Nationals.
