Mitch Larkin Competing at Short Course Worlds with Knee Injury
According to a post on the Australian Dolphins Swim Team Facebook page, backstroker Mitch Larkin is dealing with a knee injury at the Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada.
Larkin told Swimming Australia that he sustained the injury two weeks ago when he slipped and fell on wet gravel while walking to practice two weeks ago. The bruising and pain made him unable to do any backstroke starts until Monday.
“It has not been ideal but I didn’t want to make a big thing of it just preferring to work with it,” Larkin said, according to the Facebook post. “It has been uncomfortable at times. But it’s improving, and I’m dealing with it.”
Larkin finished second in the 100 back prelims Tuesday morning, and he will compete in the semifinals of the event in the evening session.
