Mitch Dalton Named USA Swimming’s National Junior Team Program Director

Mitch Dalton, most recently a successful men’s assistant coach at Princeton University, has been named USA Swimming’s National Junior Team Program Director, the National Governing Body announced today.

Dalton will work closely with USA Swimming National Team Director Frank Busch to provide framework for coaches, athletes and staff for year-round development in and out of the pool at the National Junior Team level.

“Mitch is recognized among his peers for his leadership and communication skills and possesses a big-picture philosophy, which will be of great support for our athletes and coaches,” Busch said. “He shares our vision for the process of developing rising stars into National Junior Team members and ultimately into the ranks of the National Team. I’m certain that our coaches and athletes will enjoy working closely with Mitch.”

As National Junior Team Program Director, Dalton will direct domestic and international National Junior Team programs and activities, including training camps and competitions, in regular consultation with the coaches of National Junior Team athletes, USA Swimming staff and outside professionals.

In six seasons on the staff at Princeton, Dalton helped guide the Tigers’ men’s team to four Ivy League titles. He also worked with a number of highly regarded junior-level swimmers to assemble a trio of nationally ranked recruiting classes at Princeton. Dalton also served as an assistant coach at George Washington University and James Madison University, his alma mater.

A four-year letterwinner at James Madison, Dalton gained international administrative experience on the coaching staff of Estonia for the 2011 World University Games. At the club level, he swam for the Capitol Sea Devils in USA Swimming’s Potomac Valley LSC and also coached at Machine Aquatics.

Dalton is currently pursuing his Master’s in organizational leadership from Rider University.
