Missouri State Leads at MAC Champs

GENEVA – Missouri State leads after Wednesday’s opening session of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships here at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Bears tallied 80 points, followed by Eastern Michigan with 68 points and Southern Illinois with 64 points.

Missouri State took home the Men’s 200 Medley Relay in record fashion to start things off on Wednesday night. The team of Paul Le, Isaac Springer, Vitalii Baryshok, and Uvis Kalnins finished the race in a time of 1:26.79. Eastern Michigan took home second place in 1:28.61, while Southern Illinois placed third after finishing in 1:28.68.

The final race of day one competition concluded with Missouri State claiming the 800 Freestyle Relay title. The team of Uvis Kalnins, Vitalii Baryshok, Kacper Cwiek, Isaac McKnight finished in a MAC Championship and pool record time of 6:28.05. Eastern Michigan followed in second (6:30.39), while Southern Illinois came in third at 6:31.20.

The MACtion continues Thursday with a preliminary session set for 11 a.m. ET to be followed by finals at 7 p.m.
