Michigan added an 11th swimmer to its NCAA contingent with the scratch by UNLV’s Pavel Semochkin.

Michigan’s Ian Rainey, the first alternate, now moves into the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships with his 400-yard IM B cut of 3:45.61.

Rainey finished third at the 2016 Big Ten Championships with a 3:45.91, and also wound up sixth in the 1650 free (15:09.78) and ninth in the 500 free (4:21.85) as the Michigan Wolverines rolled to another Big Ten title.

As a freshman at Big Tens, Rainey placed seventh in the 1650 free (15:09.59), 11th in the 400 IM (3:49.30) and 25th in the 500 free (4:26.22)

That moves Ohio State’s Dustin Tynes into the first alternate position, who will move into the meet with any other swimmer scratch.

Alternates:

  1. Dustin Tynes, Ohio State
  2. James Peek, Duke
  3. Hunter Cobleigh, California
  4. Steffen Hillmer, Ohio State
  5. Nicholas Hogsed, Arizona
