While Team USA won 17 events on night three of the Para Swimming World Series, Michelle Konkoly‘s 1:01.75 was one of the fastest swims of the night. After nearly breaking her own World Record in the 50 free on night two, Konkoly’s time was less than one second off her World Record in this event set in Rio.

Team USA also won the 400 free relay for both genders, and proved their freestyle dominance throughout the 100 meter races across the classifications.

The group took command of the meet on their home turf right from day one and never looked back. Next, athletes will compete in the final stop of the Series in Berlin and/or the World Championship Trials in Colorado Springs from June 21-23.

The American squad provided the following send-off until then:

INDIANAPOLIS – The World Para Swimming World Series concluded Sunday evening, with U.S. athletes claiming 17 individual wins. The event at Indiana University Natatorium marked the fourth stop of the first-ever world series circuit.

Herzog, Beelner and Sprenger each added a win in the 50 butterfly, while Meyers secured her second victory of the evening in the S13 100 fly.

Tallying five wins over the weekend, Zachary Shattuck (Mt. Airy, Maryland) capped off an impressive performance at the world series with first-place finishes in the S6 100 free and 50 fly.

The next and final stop of the World Para Swimming World Series tour will be held July 6-9 in Berlin. The U.S. Paralympics Swimming World Championships Trials will take place July 21-23 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, followed by the World Para Swimming World Championships set for Sept. 30-Oct. 6 in Mexico City.

QUOTES
Zachary Shattuck
“This weekend was fun to see everyone and reconnect with people. It was good to get back in the pool after taking a little break. I had a best time in my 100-meter breast and that was kind of a shock, but it was a cool feeling to know where I’m at and knowing I can still swim that time. As I pick up my training, I have a lot of possibilities the next month and a half.”

Michelle Konkoly
“This swim was awesome. It was so cool to swim one of my last races of the year against one of my biggest competitors. The young kids here are so excited and passionate about Paralympics. They’re dropping so much time, and it really makes me excited to see this next generation get ready to fill the gap of some of the people transitioning out of the sport.”
