Michael Phelps to Participate on Shark Week

Michael Phelps won’t be competing at U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis or at the World Championships in Budapest this summer, but the 23-time Olympic gold medalist might still be getting wet.

According to the Associated Press, Phelps is scheduled to appear on the Discovery Channel television show Shark Week. His role on the show has not yet been specified.

The AP wrote that Discovery President Rich Ross is “intrigued about seeing the fastest human swimmer interact with nature’s fastest,” and is interested in the concept of having Phelps swim underwater in shark cage.

The program will return for a 29th season this summer.
