Michael Phelps checked in with his fans via Facebook Live on the way up to Colorado Springs.
With Phelps driving, his fiance Nicole Johnson took over the feed while Phelps drove to the airport.
Phelps then had a bit of a Q&A session alongside Allison Schmitt and Bob Bowman as the trio prepared to fly back to Colorado Springs.

Funny you should ask if he was named for Boomer Esiason. On a lark, I asked Esiason on twitter if he thought Phelps named his baby after him. To my surprise, he tweeted back; “Nah”. I’m always surprised when well known people I don’t know answer my tweets. There’s a Boomer White who plays baseball for Texas A&M, also. Then there’s the dog (“Here’s Boomer”). I think Phelps just liked the name.
