MILWAUKEE – Former Panther standout on the men’s swimming & diving team Mike Lucchesi has been named the head swimming & diving coach at Carroll University, the Pioneers announced late last week.

Lucchesi, who closed out his collegiate career at UWM just 17 months ago, was outstanding in his three year’s in the Black & Gold. The Greenfield native served as a team captain and was an example both in and out of the water. Twice he finished as league runner-up in the 100 butterfly, the same event he broke the school record in that still stands today. Lucchesi posted two NCAA B-cut times as a senior and finished First-Team All-Horizon League an outstanding 17 times.

“I am very proud to see Mike fulfilling his dream of coaching,” Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. “From the first day I met him, his career goal was to be a college swim coach, and now he is living out that dream. While here at Milwaukee, Mike was a student of the sport, putting in countless hours perfecting his craft. He understands the value of hard work and all the opportunities that this sport can provide. I know that he will instill the values on the lucky athletes a Carroll, and we here at Milwaukee we wish him all the best.”

After his time in the pool with the Panthers, Lucchesi transitioned to coaching in a variety of ways at Milwaukee while finishing his degree. He also worked as an assistant coach at Greenfield High School.

“Carroll athletics is very pleased with the recent hire of Michael Lucchesi as our head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach,” Carroll Director of Athletics Joe Baker said in a release by the university athletics department. “Michael comes to us with an excellent competitive and coaching background. The Carroll swimming and diving programs have each grown over the recent years it their size and competitiveness, and we see Michael as a great selection in continuing its growth.”
