Bowling Green High school senior Mia Schempf has committed to dive at Eastern Michigan beginning in the fall. Schempf is a relatively new diver but has had success at the high school level.
In two years of diving Schempf has been a two time state qualifier. She set Bowling Green’s six and 11 dive records. Her athletic career began in gymnastics but she made the switch to diving after suffering too many injuries.
Schempf is familiar with Eastern Michigan, having spent her summer training with Legacy Diving, a program that practices at the school’s facility.
The Eagle women finished second of eight teams at the 2017 MAC Championship, 150 points behind the University of Akron.
Eastern Michigan put two divers in the top eight on one meter and two more into the B final at this year’s Conference Championship. On three meter, the program had three representatives in the A final and another three in the B final. Half of the team’s divers graduate this spring, making Schempf a valuable addition to a strong diving program.
