Men’s Breaststroke World Records Take Beating at IPC Swimming World Championships

DURBAN, South Africa, December 5. IN the fourth day of competition at the International Paralympics Committee Swimming World Championships, hosted by Disability Sport South Africa in Durban, eight global standards fell (one twice) on Dec. 5. During the day of swimming, a trio of men's breaststroke records went by the wayside as the 100 SB12, 100 SB8 and 100 SB9 world records were eclipsed. Overall, 39 world records have gone down over the initial four days of action.

In the total world record standings, USA's Jessica Long still maintains the edge with four global standards to her credit. Greece's Charalampos Taiganidis moved into a tie with China's Wang Xiaofu and Australia's Matt Cowdrey for second with a trio of world records each. Taiganidis erased the 100 fly S13 record to move up to a trifecta of global standards.
