Effective July 1, 2021, Megan Oesting will leave SwimMAC Carolina as their Head Coach. Over the past few months SwimMAC has come to recognize that, because of differing management and cultural styles, it is appropriate for us and Megan Oesting to part ways. To achieve a more immediate state of stability for the team, coaches Kathy McKee and Russ Kasl have agreed to step in together to provide ongoing administrative and operational leadership for the team, in close partnership with our Executive Director, Brandi Jones.

Kathy McKee has dedicated more than 45 years to the sport of swimming, including 22 years coaching for SwimMAC Carolina. She was named Age Group Coach of the Year by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) over four separate times during this tenure, has been a recipient of the Phillips Outstanding Service Award and was inducted into the ASCA Hall of Fame last year. Russ has been with SwimMAC for 19 years, coaching across all of our age group training levels. His leadership has helped several our swimmers to reach their goals and join the USA Junior National Team.

“From listening to MAC coaches and families and in consideration of the best cultural alignment for the club we decided the best course was to move forward in a new direction, that will be led by trusted and familiar members of the SwimMAC organization,” said SwimMAC Carolina Board President James Meacham. “The expertise and thoughtful leadership of Kathy McKee, Russ Kasl and Brandi Jones will take SwimMAC into a successful new season this year and lay the groundwork for continued success in the years to come.”

Kathy and Russ are well prepared for their new assignments and will be supported in partnership throughout this transition by the coaches, Executive Director and Board.
