Marist Swimming & Diving Back in the Water for 2017-18 Season
The Marist women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams jumped in the newly resurfaced pool in McCann Natatorium for their first official practice of the 2017-18 season on Sept. 1.
The program’s 53 student-athletes arrived on campus and started classes Aug. 28. Earlier in the week they had physicals and attended an NCAA meeting before reporting to practice today
Marist won its 30th Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship combined last season and owns four Metropolitan Conference titles—two each for the women and men. The women have captured eight straight MAAC championships and are heading into the 2017-18 campaign with a streak of 40 consecutive regular season conference dual meet victories. The men’s program earned its 100th all-time MAAC dual meet victory when it defeated Iona and Saint Peter’s at the H2ounds Invitational in December 2016.
Marist will host its annual intrasquad scrimmage, the Red & White Challenge, which will consist of swimming events only and begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 in McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes’ regular season opener will be against Canisius at 10 a.m. Oct. 13 in Buffalo, New York.
