Marc Hinawi has announced and signed his letter of intent to swim for the University of Tennessee beginning this fall. Hinawi is now the second Israeli national to become a Tennessee Volunteer as he joins fellow Israeli national Gleb Ionichev.

While Ionichev is a sprinter, Hinawi specializes in middle-to-distant freestyle events and is the current Israeli National Record holder in the 800-meter freestyle.

Hinawi will be joining a growing successful distance group under the tutelage of associate head coach Tyler Fenwick, a group that includes young distance all-star Taylor Abbott.

Hinawi expressed to Swimming World, “I am really happy with my decision to come to the University of Tennessee. They (Tennessee) has good swimming and academics. The swimming coaches are really good and I just can’t wait to start training with the team and compete together at the NCAAs.”
