Tennessee sophomore Maddy Banic scratched from finals of the 100 butterfly, where she was originally seeded 15th. Tennessee also left her off of their 200 medley relay Friday night. Tennessee officials confirmed Banic was sick and left the meet.

There has been no official word for what Banic’s health issue was. Freshman Erika Brown replaced her on Tennessee’s medley relay, swimming the fly leg a couple tenths slower tonight than Banic’s 22.65 this morning. Michigan’s Vanessa Krause swam in Banic’s place in the consolation final of the 100 fly after she won a swim off this morning with Duke’s Leah Goldman.

Banic is seeded 48th in Saturday’s 100 freestyle and there has been no official word if she has been scratched from the rest of the meet or not.

Swimming World will update the story as more information will be made available.
