Louisville’s Breaststroke Crew Among the Fastest on Day Four Prelims of 2018 Women’s ACC Championships
After the the University of Virginia women extended their lead in the race for the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference team titles during last night’s finals session, the points each team gathers going into tonight’s finals, will set the stage for the outcome of the rest of the meet.
UVA freshman Paige Madden posted the fastest time of the morning with a 1:52.23 while winner of the 100 back last night, NC State’s Elise Haan, posted the second fastest time of the morning in the 200 distance with her 1:52.35. UVA’s Megan Moroney (1:52.60) nabbed the third quickest time leading into tonight.
Louisville’s Mallory Comerford posted the fastest time in her signature 100 free in a time of 47.40 while UNC’s Caroline Baldwin posted the second fastest time of the morning with a 47.67. UVA’s Morgan Hill produced a 48.22 to take the third spot going into finals.
The Louisville women continued to set themselves up for tonight by qualifying the top two swimmers for the A final in tonight’s 200 breast. Rachael Bradford-Feldman was the first Cardinal to touch the wall in 2:09.42 while her teammate Mariia Astashkina (2:09.76) touched second. FSU’s Natalie Pierce will be the third seed in tonight’s final by virtue of her 2:09.84.
UVA’s Jen Marrkand produced the fastest time in the women’s 200 butterfly with her 1:54.28. Grace Oglesby will be right next to Marrkand tonight after putting together a 1:54.61 this morning. Posting the third fastest time of the morning was Virginia Tech’s Klaudia Nazieblo who swam a 1:56.20.
The men’s and women’s 3-meter diving preliminaries will begin at 12 p.m. EST with the men’s and women’s 1650 heats starting soon after.
