Loomis Downs 100 Fly NJCAA Record, Indian River Continues Charge to Championship Title

Indian River continued their charge to another NJCAA Championship title, qualifying first in each event of the morning.

Nicholas Loomis continued to dominate the fly events with his third NJCAA record of the meet in the 100 fly.

Women’s 50 Fly

Osianna McReed qualified first in the women’s 50 fly with a 24.97, putting her in range of the NJCAA record of 24.77. Teammate Meagan Abad added a second place qualifying time of 26.70, followed by Southwestern Oregon’s Sienna Smith’s 27.29.

Men’s 50 Fly

Nicholas Loomis of Indian River continued to sweep the fly events with a new NJCAA record in the 50 fly. Loomis delivered a 21.27 to fly past his own NJCAA record of 21.44 from 2016.

Teammate Gavin Erdmann turned in a 22.82 to qualify second, followed by Lynx’s Paul Elaisa and his time of 23.40.

Grace Nordquist of Iowa Central posted the top time in prelims of the 1650 free with a time of 19:25.61. Teammate Samantha Mathis grabbed second with a time of 20:12.11.

Southern Georgia State’s Kailyn Carver took third in prelims with a 20:42.89.

Men’s 1650 Free

Monroe Community College’s Patrick Marsh delivered a 17:54.50 to post the fastest time of the morning in the men’s 1650 free.

Zac Keating of Southern Georgia State posted the second fastest time at an 18:30.91, while Jamestown’s Alex Beckerlink was third with a time of 18:32.01.

John Fauteux led Indian River to a sweep of the top qualifying times in the men’s 100 free. Fauteux posted a 45.48, followed by teammate Cameron Newton and his time of 45.79.

Fellow Pioneers Guillaume Bolivard and Gavin Erdmann qualified  third and fourth with times of 45.83 and 45.86.
