Levenia Sim (50 Backstroke) and Nate Germonprez (200 Breaststroke) Claim Titles at NCSA Championships

Levenia Sim enjoyed a strong showing on the second day of the National Club Swimming Association Championships, as she raced in a pair of finals and walked away with a title in the 50-yard backstroke. After finishing fifth in the 200 butterfly (1:56.72), Sim turned her attention to a sprint event and clocked 23.95, which was the only sub-24 performance in the field.

Sim touched .07 ahead of runnerup Margaret Wanezek, who was timed in 23.95. In the 200 butterfly, Sim earned fifth as Tess Howley claimed the event title in 1:52.88, which handed her a comfortable margin over Campbell Stoll (1:54.49).

In boys’ action, Landon Gentry and Stephen Hitchcock were the only swimmers to break the 1:45 barrier in the 200 butterfly, with Gentry coming out on top behind a time of 1:44.02. Hitchcock followed in 1:44.81. Meanwhile, Scott Buff blasted the competition in the 50 backstroke as he set a meet record of 21.23.

In 200 breaststroke action, Kaelyn Gridley emerged on top with a winning time of 2:08.30, while Lucy Thomas was next in 2:09.16. For the boys, Nate Germonprez, a Texas recruit, was the easy winner as his mark of 1:54.87 bettered the 1:56.48 of Toby Barnett.
