Laszlo Cseh Clocks 200 Fly Meet Record at Settecolli Trophy

At day two of the 2016 Settecolli Trophy another meet record fell.

Laszlo Cseh turned in meet record in the 200 butterfly today. He stopped the clock in 1:54.89, faster than the old 1:55.63. That’s the sixth best time in the world this year, though well off his world leading 1:52.91. In second was Bence Biczo in 1:57.30 and Stefanos Dimitradis was third with a 1:57.58.

After a Canadian record in the 50 backstroke prelims yesterday, Kylie Masse was the only swimmer under a minute in tonight’s 100 backstroke. She touched in 59.66 ahead of Katarina Listopadova in 1:00.21 and Carlotta Zofkova Costa De Saint in 1:00.70.

Italian Niccolo Bonacchi led a close finish in the men’s 100 backstroke. He stopped the clock in 54.23. Apostolos Christou followed in 54.35 and David Gamburg was third with a 54.38.

The women’s 400 IM was incredibly close. Luisa Trombetti took gold in 4:40.06, just ahead of Sara Franceschi in 4:40.39. Completing the podium was Reka Gyorgy in 4:41.31.

David Verraszto took the men’s 400 IM by a large margin, finishing in 4:12.21. Silver went to Federico Turrini in 4:15.90 and Benjamin Gratz‘s 4:16.00 was good for bronze.

Ruta Meilutyte touched in 30.29 for women’s 50 breaststroke gold. Arianna Castiglioni (31.04) and Jennie Johansson (31.09) took silver and bronze.

Cameron Van Der Burgh out touched Giedrius Titenis and Nicolo Martinenghi for the 50 breaststroke crown. The podium men posted times of 27.28, 27.34 and 27.42.

Ilaria Bianchi out touched Penny Oleksiak and Lilian Szilagyi to claim the 100 butterfly title. She touched in 58.36. Oleksiak was .01 ahead of Szilagyi as the two touched in 58.41 and 58.42.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo got to the wall just before Federica Pellegrini in the 100 freestyle, as the two stopped the clock in 53.14 and 53.18. Oleksiak was third in 53.67.

The men’s 200 freestyle gold went to Gabriele Such in 1:46.78. Dominik Kozma posted a 1:47.38 for second and Marco Belotti was third (1:47.81).

Boglarka Kapas topped the women’s 800 freestyle in 8:22.21. Diletta Carli swam an 8:27.26 for second and third went to Martina Rita Caramignoli in 8:30.59.

Peltrinieri swam a 14:51.62 to win the men’s 1500. Second place went to Damien Frajoly in 15:09.38 and Marcelo Esa Acosta was the final podium finisher of the day in 15:16.87.
