Lafayette Captures Missouri High School Girls State Title

In a tight battle, Lafayette (Wildwood) edged Rock Bridge for the Missouri Girls High School state title by a score of 224 to 220.5. Marquette was third with 201 points.

The Rock Bridge quartet of Ellie ZweifelNicole WilliamsEllie Flanagan, and Bettie Logan were dominant in the 200 medley relay in 1:44.32.

Marquette senior Alyssa Lemon won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.87, a second ahead of Ladue Horton Watkins sophomore Paige Mitchell (1:51.93). Mitchell was then second in the 500 freestyle (4:59.08) as she and Hickman senior Brittany Wen (4:47.65) cracked five minutes.

Kickapoo senior Krystal Caylor posted a 2:03.48 to win the 200 IM ahead of Williams (2:04.56).

St Joseph’s Academy senior Anna Miller was the only swimmer under 23 in the 50 freestyle with her 22.89. She also won the 100 freestyle in 50.36. Molly Moore of The Summit Prep was second in both (23.07, 51.09) freestyle sprints.

Cor Jesu Academy sophomore Karisa Franz was dominant in the 100 butterfly with her 54.44. The 100 backstroke title went to Parkway Central senior Madison Brown (55.49) while Rockbridge’s Williams picked up the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.79.

Lafayette’s Delany ThomasKatie HaefnerCate Behl, and Claire Vanbiljon posted a 1:37.06 to win the 200 freestyle relay. Franceska Petrosino joined Behl, Thomas, and Vanbiljon to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:29.98.
