Kliment Kolesnikov continued to collect World Junior Records (WJR) until the very end of 2018, recently adding the 100 SCM free to his name.

Kolesnikov sprinted to a lifetime best of 46.11, splitting 22.30 & 23.81, while swimming at the 2018 Salnikov Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia over the weekend. His time downed the previous WJR, held by Australian Olympian Kyle Chalmers, by a slim .01 seconds.

Chalmers had set the prevoius WJR of 46.12 at the Tokyo stop of the 2016 FINA World Cup series.

While his time earned him gold at the 2018 Salnikov Cup, Kolesnikov’s time of 46.11 would have tied him for fifth with Lithuania’s Simonas Bilis at the 2018 FINA SCM World Championships.

Kolesnikov now owns seven total SCM World Junior Records and three LCM World Junior Records.
