First cab off the rank in a nation wide series of regional events will be the Taranaki Winter Championships at the TSB Pool at Stratford from July 17-19.

It will be followed by:

Nelson/Marlborough – July 24-26

Waikato – July 25-26

Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay – August 7-16

Bay Of Plenty – September 4-6

South Island – September 4-6

Counties Manukau – September 5

Canterbury/West Coast September 11-12

Manawatu – September 12-13

Southland – September 13

Otago – September 19

Auckland – September 18-20

Wellington – September 18-20

“We are excited to confirm the dates of each of the respective regional events taking part. The series will have 13 events hosted around the country, with swimmers having the opportunity to have their results compared with the rest of the country just by taking part in their local event,” Swimming New Zealand announced.

“The concept has a multi-faceted approach – to provide an opportunity for both able-body and Para swimmers to achieve a qualifying time for the Aon 2020 NZ Short Course Championships, an opportunity for swimmers who are unable to attend Short Course and an opportunity for those athletes who have missed out on competing at the cancelled AIMS Games.”

The results at the end of the series will be announced and recognised through Swimming New Zealand’s digital channels to both celebrate performances and build toward the Aon 2020 NZ Short Course Championships.

The results will consist of the top 20 results for each of the following age groups age group 11 years: 12 years, 13 years, 14 years, 15 years, 16 years, 17–18 years, 19+ years and top 10 results for open (overall) categories.

Only the events that would have taken place at AIMS Games (11 and 12 years) and all events taking place at the Aon 2020 NZ Short Course Championships will have results collated.
