Katt Sickle Grabs 200-500 Double at Nebraska’s Scarlet vs. Cream Intrasquad

Taryn Collura, Erin Oeltjen and Jordan Ehly each notched two victories Friday afternoon, leading the Cream to a 144.5-105.5 triumph in the annual Scarlet v. Cream Intrasquad Meet at the Devaney Natatorium. Overall, the Cream won 11 of 16 events en route to a victory that gave the Cream a seven to five all-time series lead.

The Cream entered Friday’s competition with a 20-12 lead after capturing victories in a laser tag challenge and a minute to win it competition that took place prior to Friday afternoon’s meet.

The team of Morgan McCafferty, Ehly, Oeltjen and Collura helped get the Cream squad off to a strong start by capturing first-place in the 200-yard medley relay. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Collura, Lindsay Helferich, Kaylyn Flatt and Oeltjen helped the Cream secure another victory.

Collura, Oeltjen, and Ehly each captured victories in two events for the Cream. Collura tallied victories in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Oeltjen earned the top spot in both the 100-yard butterfly and the one-meter swimmer diving competition. Ehly captured victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Katt Sickle led the Scarlet team capturing victories in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyles. Three other Huskers captured victories for the Scarlet squad. Jacqueline Juffer notched a win in the 100-yard backstroke, Anna Filipcic claimed the crown for the one-meter dive and Kara Cottrell won the diver’s 50-yard freestyle event.

The Huskers will return to the pool on Oct. 3 for their regular season opener against Arkansas. That meet will begin at 11 a.m. at the Devaney Natatorium. The following weekend Nebraska is set to take on Iowa State Friday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. at the Devaney Natatorium.
