Kaitlin Harty Scorches 200 Back Field At Night 2 Of YMCA Nationals

Fanwood Scotch Plains kicked off night two of the 2016 YMCA Long Course Sectionals with a solid win in the women’s 200 free relay. The team of Marlise Moesch (26.76), Sarah Davis (26.05), Darlene Fung (26.44), and Amanda Banasiak (26.79) posted a combined time of 1:46.04 to beat the competition by more than a second. Butler YMCA (1:47.18) and Cheshire YMCA (1:47.29) grabbed second and third respectively.

On the men’s side it was Upper Main Line YMCA who took home the win. Sam Hawke (24.23), Brian McKenrick (24.12), Brendan Burns (23.92), and Billy Beard (23.60) finished first with a time of 1:35.87. Wilton Family YMCA (1:36.21) and Grove City YMCA picked up second and third.

Kaitlin Harty of North Shore Sterling YMCA picked up the first individual win of the night with a 2:12.63 in the women’s 200 back. Butler YMCA’s Camryn Forbes finished second with a 2:14.27, just ahead of Phoenixville Branch’s Emma Seiberlich’s 2:14.43.

Jake Kealy jumped ahead of the competition in the men’s 200 back to finish first by more than two seconds with a 2:04.81. Picking up second place was Wilton Family’s Hugo Sykes with a time of 2:07.02, while third went to Hickory Foundation’s Ross Dant and his 2:07.21.

Megan Sichterman of Countryside Ralph Stolle posted the only one-minute women’s 100 fly at a 1:00.23. Bath Area Family’s Caitlin Tycz was second overall with a 1:01.55 and Famwood Scotch Plains’ Monika Burzynski grabbed third with a 1:01.74.

A trio of 55’s highlighted the men’s 100 fly. Leading the pack of 55’s was Soundview Family’s Corey Gambardella with a 55.09. Upper Main Line teammates Burns (55.52) and McKenrick (55.97) finished second and third.

The women’s 200 breaststroke was won by New Canaan Community’s Lizzy Colwell and her final 2:34.78. Montclair’s Cha O’Leary delivered a 2:36.92 for second, while Emma Holmqvist of Wilton Family took third with a 2:38.85.

Door County’s Maxwell McHugh sprinted ahead of the competition in the men’s 200 breaststroke, stopping the clock at a 2:18.49. A duo of 2:21’s followed between Fanwood Scotch Plains’ Chris Bondarowicz (2:21.24) and Powel Crosley Jr’s Blake Brockman (2:21.90).

The women of Fanwood Scotch Plains ended the meet the same way they opened–with a relay win, this time in the 400 medley. Fung (1:07.43, back) and Moesch (57.01, free) teamed up with Rachel Maizes (1:15.40, breast) and Burzynski (1:01.80, fly) turned in a combined time of 4:21.64. Phoenixville Branch picked up second with a 4:22.34, just ahead of York and York County’s 4:22.81.

The men of Upper Main Line turned in the top time in the 400 medley relay with a final 3:53.99. McKenrick (59.00), Kevin Jay (1:08.22), Burns (55.45) and Beard (51.32) led the competition by more than half a second. Red Bank Branch took second overall with a 3:54.55, while third went to ME Lyons Anderson’s 3:58.34.
