Junior Pan Pacific Championships Set for Next Month in Canada

The 12th edition of the Junior Pan Pacific Championships will be held from August 17-20 at the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. The long-course competition is open to all non-European countries that are members of World Aquatics. This summer will mark the first time that Canada has served as the host. The meet was first held in 2005 and is conducted on a biennial basis.

Junior Pan Pacs participation is reserved for athletes who are 13 to 18 years old and the meet will use a prelims-finals format, except for the distance-freestyle events, which will conducted using timed finals. Each country will be limited to advancing two swimmers to the championship final of an event, and advancing two swimmers to the consolation final.

The United States will select its squad based on the results from the Toyota National Championships, which will be held from July 28-August 1 at the William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, California. The team can included a maximum of 20 female athletes and 20 male athletes.

Team USA leads the overall medal count, thanks to 288 medals between the inaugural competition and the 2024 meet. Japan sits second with 129 medals, followed by Australia with 123 medals. The United States leads the way in gold medals with 135.
