Joe Schooling Claims 100 Fly Title at Austin Sectionals

Joe Schooling posted a 52.58 to win the men’s 100-meter fly during finals of day two at the TXLA Speedo Southern Sectionals in Austin, TX. Jack LeVant claimed second with a 55.58, while Martin Wallace was third with a 55.85.

Megan Romano was the only woman to finish under the two-minute mark in the 200-meter free touching the wall with a time of 1:59.82. Tisane Karosas finished second with a 2:03.23, while Dakota Luther placed third with a close 2:03.39.

Michael McBroom swept the competition in the men’s 200-meter free finishing with a time of 1:49.55. Grant Reed took second with a 1:53.31, while Beau Fusilier rounded out the top three with a 1:53.52.

Jordan Surhoff claimed first in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:!1.92. Rayann Jaryszak finished second with a 1:13.14, and Destiny Nelson completed the top three with a 1:13.86.

Thiago Parravicini was the winner of the men’s 100-meter breaststroke posting a 1:02.49, a 2.12 second drop from his prelims time of 1:04.61. Hayden Henry claimed second with a 1:04.24. Despite having a faster second 50-meters than Henry third went to Jonathan Tybur who posted a 1:04.53.

The women’s 100-meter fly was a tight race with the top three finishers posting times within .80 seconds of each other. Beryl Gastaldello picked up first with a 1:00.00. Amber Carter was hot on her heels with a 1:00.12, and Elizabeth Boyce rounded out the top three with a 1:00.80.

Regan Barney bested the competition in the women’s 400-meter IM with a quick 4:50.57. Kaitlin Pawlowicz posted a 4:53.00 to grab second, dropping 4.02 seconds off her prelims time of 4:57.02. Diana Dunn was third with a 4:55.17.

Benjamin Walker turned in a 4:27.26 to best the competition in the men’s 400-meter IM. Henry was close behind with a 4:28.58, while Mason Tenney took third with a 4:30.74.
