Jan Switkowski, Aly Tetzloff Named SEC Swimmers of the Week

The Southeastern Conference has announced its swimmers and divers of the week, which include Florida’s Jan Switkowski and Auburn’s Aly Tetzloff.

Male Swimmer of the Week
Jan Switkowski • Florida
Senior • Lublin, Netherlands

Switkowski recorded a first-place finish in all four events he raced in, which led the Gators to a win over No. 13 Auburn. He notched two B-cut times in the 200 free (1:33.95) and 200 back (1:44.10). Switkowski was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.


Male Diver of the Week
Colin Zeng • Tennessee
Junior • Fujian, China

Zeng led the Vols with two victories in the diving well in Tennessee’s tie with No. 11 Georgia, taking the 1-meter springboard in 396.15 and the 3-meter competition in 419.85. He is undefeated on 1-meter and platform this season (6 wins on 1-meter, 4 wins on 3-meter), and has scored above 400 six times this season on 3-meter.


Male Freshman of the Week
Michael Taylor • Florida
Freshman • Alpharetta, Ga.

In Florida’s win over No. 13 Auburn, Taylor recorded two B-cut times to take first in the 100 back (47.81) and second in the 200 back (1:44.56 – career best). He was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:26.27) with his backstroke split of 22.29.


Female Swimmer of the Week
Aly Tetzloff • Auburn
Junior • Crown Point, Ind.

Tetzloff was a three-event winner in Auburn’s dual meet victory over No. 16 Florida, the Tigers’ first dual meet win in Gainesville since 2006. She won the 100 back (53.14), the 100 free (48.72) and the 200 IM (1:59.12), matching her career-best time in the 100 back. Tetzloff led off the winning 200 medley relay with a 24.82 split, the best in the field.


Female Diver of the Week
Brooke Schultz • Arkansas
Freshman • Fayetteville, Ark.

Schultz won the one-meter and three-meter springboard titles against Houston. On the one-meter, she won with a score of 326.70. On the 3-meter, Schultz broke her own school record for the fourth time this season, scoring 384.53.


Female Freshman of the Week
Jing Quah • Texas A&M
Freshman • Singapore

Quah won two individual races and swam on both victorious relays in the Aggies’ win over LSU. In the 200 butterfly, she was the only swimmer under 54 seconds in the 100 fly (53.98), as well as the only swimmer under two minutes in the 200 fly (1:58.07). Quah’s 100 free split in the Aggies’ winning 400 free relay was one of only two under 51 seconds (50.97).
