IUP swimmer Rodrigo Feller had a fun time at the 2015 Pan American Maccabi Games in Chile this past month as he racked up 19 medals while swimming for Brazil.

Here’s IUP’s press release about the achievement:

IUP men’s freshman swimmer Rodrigo Feller (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Santo Ivo) racked up 19 medals as he represented Brazil at the 13th Pan American Maccabi Games in Santiago, Chile. The 2015 Games began on Dec. 26 and wrapped up on Jan. 5.

The Pan American Maccabi Games are held every four years in a country in the Americas and is sponsored by the Latin American Maccabi Confederation (CLAM). Participants include athletes representing North, Central and South America, Israel and other countries throughout the Diaspora.

One of the main missions is to perpetuate and preserve the American Jewish community by encouraging Jewish Pride, strengthening Jewish bonds, and by creating a heightened awareness of Israel and Jewish Identity.

Feller’s impressive medal total included nine gold, seven silver and three bronze medals. His gold medals came in the 400, 800, and 1500 freestyle; the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke; the 200 and 400 individual medley; and the 200 backstroke.

The freshman has also succeeded in his first year of competition for the Crimson Hawks with three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times in the 200 butterfly, and the 200 and 400 individual medley.

Feller and the Crimson Hawks start their march towards the 2016 PSAC Championships in 10 days when they host Clarion in a dual meet at the Pidgeon Natatorium on Jan. 22.
