Irish Short Course Championships: Sycerika McMahon Downs Irish Record
DUBLIN, Ireland, November 20. SYCERIKA McMahon, 14, has been the highlight of the first few days of swimming at the Irish Short Course Championships held in Dublin.
McMahon clocked a time of 2:31.87 in the women's 200 breast to clip Ciara Farrell's 2006 mark of 2:31.99. McMahon also won the women's 400 free in 4:14.90 to capture the age group record in that event. She claimed her third title of the meet in the women's 100 IM with a 1:04.55, which was another age group standard.
Ashleigh Hyland upended McMahon, 31.85 to 31.88, in the women's 50 breast to hold stop McMahon from a fourth gold medal.
Colin Dowling won the men's 200 back in 1:59.39, while doubling up with a 57.07 in the men's 100 IM.
Conor Leaney snared the men's 400 free title in 3:54.19., while Steven McQuillan touched first in the men's 50 fly with a 25.13.
Stephen O'Nolan cruised to victory in the men's 200 breast in 2:15.26, while Simon Dickson snatched the men's 50 breast in 29.89.
Aisling Cooney took home the women's 200 back in 2:12.02, while Shauna O'Brien clinched the women's 50 fly in 28.08.
