Inland Empire Short Course Championships

ELLENSBURG, Washington, March 5. THE Tri-City Channel Cats (TCCC) took the Inland Empire SCY Championship title during a three-day meet at Central Washington University.

Individual female high point winner Emri Moore from Spokane Area Swimming (SAS) swam to an impressive six individual wins giving her 67 points individually. Moore won the 200 free (1:54.39), 500 free (5:03.03), 1650 free (17:30.55), 100 fly (58.16), 200 fly (2:06.59) and 100 back (59.55).

Rachel Millet from the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team (SWAT) won three individual events including the 400 IM (4:33.17), 50 free (24.18), and 100 free (52.01). Teammate Carlie McGregor swam to an individual win in the 200 IM (2:12.64).

Natalie Ruiz of TCCC out swam Millet in the 200 back (2:05.12) to take the win by two and a half seconds.

Other multiple winner, Emilie Pleger from the Yakina YMCA Swim Team (YYST), swept the breaststroke events winning both the 100 breast (1:06.74) and 200 breast (2:28.98).

SAS won the 400 medley relay (4:03.96) and SWAT won the 400 free relay (3:38.01) on the women's side.

Mason Shaw from SAS won five individual events including the 500 free (4:40.59), 200 IM (1:55.88), 400 IM (4:08.53), 100 breast (59.65), and 200 breast (2:05.45).

Teammate Coleman Allen also had multiple individual wins, winning five events including the 100 back(53.44), 200 back (1:54.35), 100 free(48.15), 100 fly(51.22), and 200 fly (1:53.85). Also from SAS, Alex Martinek swam to first in the 1650 free (16:53.40).

Only two events were not won by a SAS swimmer, including the 200 free and 50 free. Nathaniel Weinman from TCCC won the 200 free (1:47.17), and Chris Campbell from the Gold Medal Swim Club won the 50 free (21.89).

The SAS men won both the relays including the 400 medley relay (3:37.33) and 400 free relay(3:18.10).

TCCC won the championships with 1166.5 points, SAS came in second with 785.5 points, and SWAT came in third with 655.5 points.
