Indiana’s Pam Swander Takes Position at SwimMAC

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, September 2. INDIANA University assistant head coach for women's swimming Pam Swander has resigned from her position with the Hoosiers to take a coaching job with the SwimMAC club team in Charlotte, N.C.

"Coach Swander has contributed greatly to both our women's and men's swimming teams here at Indiana over the last five years," said head coach Ray Looze. "I am very pleased that all Pam's hard work and our successes at IU put her in a position to have such a wonderful coaching opportunity. She is a good friend, a lifelong Hoosier and we all wish her the very best at SwimMAC."

In addition to serving as an assistant coach with SwimMAC, Swander will also be responsible for the leadership and administration of the operational plan, budget, facilities (operations and/or relationships), and staff supervision of coaches, auxiliary program staff, and swim instructors of the Northern Regions of SwimMAC.

Swander leaves Indiana after five seasons with the program, including this last season where she served as assistant head coach for the women's program. During her tenure the IU women's team captured three Big Ten championships, including back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. She was instrumental in the development of All-American Kate Fesenko, who became Indiana's first female NCAA swimming champion when she won the 200-yard backstroke at the 2010 national meet. She also worked with 2006 USA Swimming 100-meter backstroke National Champion Leila Vaziri, and 2006 400-meter individual medley Canadian Nation Champion Kristen Bradley.

A national search for her replacement will begin immediately.
