Indiana’s Gabriel Brown Breaks Five NAG Records in 16-Day Span
The state of Indiana has long been known for producing excellence in the pool and Gabriel Brown is carrying on the tradition. In the 10-and-under age group, Brown has gone on a record-breaking assault, setting five National Age Group (NAG) standards. Two of Brown’s records were established in long-course competition while three were registered in short course.
In the 50-meter pool, Brown owns the NAG record in the 200 freestyle at 2:11.18 and holds the NAG mark in the 200 individual medley at 2:26.68. Representing the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers, Brown set his long-course records while racing at the Central Zone Championships. Meanwhile, Brown set three short-course NAG records in mid-July, including a 2:09.56 performance in the 200 IM. The other records arrived in the 200 freestyle (1:55.72) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.13).
All five of Brown’s NAG records came during a 16-day span.
Brown competed in his first Zone meet as an eight-year-old, competing in the 10-and-under division, and captured a state championship. He holds 16 meet records from competition at the Indiana Age Group State Championships and he ranks in the top-50 all-time in all 23 events in which he is eligible to compete. In nine events, he ranks in the top-five all-time.
