Hena Mesic, a 13-year-old swimming prodigy out of Bosnia & Herzegovina took down a pair of open national records during the nation’s summer championships this weekend in Sarajevo.

Mesic lowered the women’s 100-meter back record with a 1:07.11.  That swim undercut the previous mark of 1:07.27 set by Amina Kajtaz earlier this year.

Mesic then took down the ancient 200-meter backstroke mark of 2:23.78 with a swift 2:23.36. That performance downed the time set by Dijana Kvesic at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Mesic was unable to take down Kajtaz national record of 31.01 in the 50-meter back, but still managed to lower the 14-and-under and 16-and-under records with a 31.58. Mesic held the previous marks with a 31.86 from earlier this year.

Mesic also clocked a 2:31.18 in the women’s 200-meter IM for the win, and took third overall in the 400-meter IM with a 5:29.17.
