Many of the top contenders for spots on the U.S. World Championships team in the women’s 200 fly will be in action during the session, with Hali Flickinger, Cassidy Bayer and Kelsi Worrell all on-hand.
In the men’s race, 100 fly gold medalist Joseph Schooling is expected to compete for the first time at the meet, as are NCAA champion Jack Conger and U.S. Olympians Tom Shields and Chase Kalisz.
The Indiana-trained Lilly King and Cody Miller are the top seeds in the 100 breast events, and it will be Olivia Smoliga and Ryan Murphy highlighting the 100 back.
In the meet’s final preliminary event, Melanie Margalis and Kalisz will continue their strong meets in the 200 IM.
The early heats of the distance races will be contested at the end of that session. Those seedings are not yet final and not included in the heat sheet, but the Stanford women’s contingent is leaving town before finals (according to Rowdy Gaines on the NBC Sports broadcast of the Saturday night finals), so Katie Ledecky is expected to compete in the 800 free during the morning session.
